Despite ongoing efforts to increase electronic communication, much of today’s medical information is still coming in on paper or fax. P & P provides the technology in the form of a program called Paperclip to scan and manage the paper documents you have coming in every day. Paperclip integrates the information from faxes and old paper medical records into your Electronic Medical Record. Paperclip supports all types of scanners from personal to enterprise-level scanners. Real-time previews allow you to ensure the accuracy of your scans. Paperclip is available from the EMR in both notes and patient profiles.

Beyond scanning and accessing, Paperclip allows such advanced functions as reconciliation and task list synchronization. When test results, for example, are scanned, they are automatically attached to any appropriate diagnostic or consultation requests made in the EMR. When reviewing past appointments, the EMR provides the diagnostic or consultation request with the matching results.

The task manager in CIS is integrated with Paperclip to help you keep on top of required actions. By simply scanning a pharmacy renewal request into Paperclip, a to-do action item is automatically created for you. Since you can access P & P software remotely, you don’t even have to come into the office to take care of a to-do list item.
