Knowing whether a patient’s visit is covered by the province or not isn’t as easy as checking their version code. You need to ensure that they have not seen another optometrist in last 2 years. With HCV for Optometry, we can check electronically if a patient has seen another optometrist or if their health card is in otherwise good standing. To the best of our knowledge we are the only vendor that offers this feature – and we are NOT talking about IVR. You swipe a health card or set the system to validate tomorrow’s appointments in the scheduler and you will know if the card has an invalid version code or whether they have seen an optometrist too recently to be seen again. In addition, you can have the system look through all your patients that have not been to the practice for a while to see whether you can recall them for a covered visit.
